Meet Crank My Hog 1.6.1.
Crank My Hog is the new name for WattPig, the native Mac menu bar app originally called Pulse. This is an early preview for Intel Macs running macOS 15 or later.
What’s new
1.6.1 brings our new scruffy, glasses-wearing mascot to the app, icon and launch film. The original Crank My Hog logo stays exactly the same. This update changes artwork only; monitoring and cleanup behaviour are unchanged.
- A cheeky Hog Hub, lounging pig mascot and cleaner navigation. The pig greets you on hover or click and moves lightly during a scan.
- Deep Clean searches nested installers, project dependencies, Xcode builds and npm’s content cache alongside app caches and logs. You review every removal.
- Disk Diet pauses and continues a metadata scan in the same app session, with a list of the largest 100 files found throughout the selected folder.
- Hog History shows cleanup and uninstall receipts. Eligible items can be restored from local Trash without replacing existing files. Older receipts, external volumes and login agents use manual Finder recovery.
- Uninstall writes its receipt before removal begins and updates it after each completed move.
Release status
The redesigned Intel preview is in testing. A public download is not available yet. The current build is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarised.
Compatibility and limits
This preview is an Intel build, tested on an Intel Mac Pro. Apple silicon support is not included. CPU and memory are available through macOS; GPU, battery, temperature, fan and system-power readings depend on hardware support. Fan control, per-app watts and Neural Engine metrics are not implemented.
Per-app audio needs macOS permission and a supported audio format. Docker controls need Docker. Storage scan cursors last until you refresh, change folders or quit. Cleanup scans have file-count and time limits; incomplete items cannot be selected. Allocated sizes are estimates, particularly on APFS. Always review paths and keep backups before removing files.
